Recipe Mackerel Simmered in Miso

Resep Mackerel Simmered in Miso

Ingredients :

  • 2 whole mackerels
  • 100 ml water #
  • 200 ml sake #
  • 2 Tbsp mirin/sweet sake #
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce #
  • 1 few pieces ginger #
  • 2 tsp sugar *
  • 1 Tbsp mirin/sweet sake *
  • 2 Tbsp miso *
  • leek/green onions, as you wish

Method :
  1. Remove the head and innards from the mackerels and wash with water. Dry with kitchen paper. Make a cross cut on both sides.
  2. Put all the # ingredients into a pot. Once it boils, put in the mackerel with lid on. Boil for a while on a medium to high heat. Occasionally shake the pot to ensure the mackerels are covered with sauce.
  3. While boiling the mackerel, make the miso sauce. Mix all * ingredients well.
  4. When the sauce is nearly gone, and the mackerels are well cooked, pour the miso sauce on the mackerels and shake the pot to cover everything. Once it comes to a boil again, it"s done!
  5. You can garnish with Japanese leeks or green onions.
