Recipe Sausage Bites

Ingredients :

• 1 lb smoked sausage
• 2 tbsp olive oil (I use a lighter oil)
• 2 tbsp honey
• 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/4 cup orange juice
• 1 tsp cayenne pepper
• 1 toothpicks

Method :

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Slice the sausage into 1/2 inch thick slices.
3. Poke a toothpick into the center of each slice if you"re using wood toothpicks. *For plastic, insert after cooking.*
4. Line up in the bottom of a baking pan and set aside.
5. In a medium saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients and heat to bubbling.
6. Pour the hot, bubbly mixture over the sausages and bake at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes, until brown and sauce is mostly absorbed.
7. Let cool slightly and serve.
8. **I have also used pretzel rods inserted in the sausage bites after removing them from the oven.**
