Recipe Appalachian Sausage Gravy for biscuits

Resep Appalachian Sausage Gravy for biscuits

Ingredients :

  • 1/3 roll hot breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup shortening or lard
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups milk

Method :
  1. Brown sausage in cast iron skillet. Break down sausage into small pieces as you go. Remove sausage from pan, leaving grease behind.
  2. Add lard to pan and melt. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth.
  4. Gradually, stir in milk.
  5. Bring to boil while stirring.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  7. Add sausage and salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve over biscuits.
