Ingredients :
- 2 T Butter
- 1/2 Onion (diced)
- 2 Celery ribs (diced)
- 3 Cloves Garlic (sliced)
- 1 qt Chicken Stock
- 2 1/2 C Water
- 1 lb Dried Split Peas (rinsed)
- 1 lb Ham (cubed)
- 1 Bay Leaf
- to taste Salt and Pepper
Method :
- Cook onion, celery, and garlic in butter over med-low heat until onions are translucent (not brown)
- Add remaining ingredients. Stir together. Simmer slowly, stirring occasionally, until peas are tender and soup is thickened (about 1 hour & 15 min)
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
