Ingredients :
- 3 1/2 lb apples, great way to use windfalls
- 2 lb blackberries
- 3 1/2 lb granulated sugar
Method :
- Peel and core the apples, remove any bruises etc. Cut into small chunks.
- Place in preserving pan/saucepan with 1/2 cup water, bring to slow simmer and cook until soft.
- Add blackberries, bring to boil, simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add sugar, bring to boil, boil for about 30 minutes, until a spoonful on a cold plate forms a "skin", about 225°F if you have a candy thermometer.
- Carefully pour into sterillised, preheated jars, cover add lids, label, date, allow to cool, enjoy.
