
Ingredients :
- 4 oz 2% milk
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup white rice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1/2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp basil
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/8 tsp salt
Method :
- Bring pot of water to rolling boil. Add rice, cook for 15-20 minutes until rice is soft.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm up milk. Add cheese and butter, cover, and stir occassionally. Let cheese melt and ingredients blend.
- Add mustard, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, basil, and garlic. Blend together.
- Add flour to sauce, reduce heat to simmer, cover, and let thicken for 5-7 minutes. Stir often.
- When rice is done, remove from heat and drain excess water and plate. Remove sauce from stove top, pour over rice. Garnish with roasted red peppers if desired.
