
Ingredients :
- 3 cups white flour
- 6 cups brown flour
- 3 tbsp shortening
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 4 1/2 tbsp quick rise yeast
- 2 tbsp honey
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 2/3 cups very warm water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- margarine
Method :
- Mix all ingredients together except the margarine. I like to use a bread machine to knead my bread but you can do it by hand. Knead for 10 minutes or until dough becomes stretchy and elastic.
- Turn your oven on for 3 minutes and then shut off just to get it a little bit warm. Divide your dough into two or three equal balls. Rub each ball all over with margarine or butter. Place each ball into a greased loaf pan and squish it down.
- Place the loaves into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes and let rise until it"s the size that you want it to be. Remove from oven.
- Preheat oven to 405 Degrees. Cook loaves on center rack until when tapped it sounds hollow inside.
- Cool on a baking rack. Optional: brush tops with butter. Enjoy!
