Ingredients :
- 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, sliced
- 1/2 to 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cups shortening
- 6 to 7 tablespoon cold water
Method :
- To make filling: Preheat oven to 375 F. Combine apples, sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
- To make crust: In another mixing bowl, combine the 2 cups of flour and salt, then put in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of cold water over mixture, mix gently. Repeat until dough is moistened, then divide dough in half.
- On a lightly floured surface, flatten one ball of dough with hands. Use a rolling pin to roll to a diameter larger than the pie plate. Loosely wrap crust around rolling pin and transfer to pie plate. Add filling to pie plate.
- Roll remaining dough for top crust. Place in preheated oven for 50 minutes.
- Once done, cool pan on a wire rack. Enjoy the sliced pie with ice cream or whipped cream!
